Your contribution
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your role will be to support the operation and maintenance of a number of run-of-the-river hydroelectric facilities, and monitor and coordinate technical administration and operational functions of the operating projects.
Your day-to-day
- Managing the operation and maintenance of run-of-river hydroelectric facilities.
- Managing and leading a team of remote Hydro Station Managers, Operators and/or Assistant-operators.
- Managing external consultants and assisting with external suppliers.
- Coordinating and managing the maintenance schedule and budget.
- Effectively communicating and resolving complex technical challenges and concepts related to mechanical equipment issues to engineering and non-engineering personnel.
- Managing projects and capital improvements.
- Managing regulatory standards compliance.
- Applying corporate health and safety policies.
- Providing support, equipment or control failure analysis, and control of major activities for the facilities.
Your skills, our requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in similar role.
- Experience in managing operations’ crews at industrial facilities.
- Experience with hydro plant operations, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), communications infrastructure, high voltage transmission lines (a definite asset).
- Experience reading and interpreting Engineering drawings.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
- Must be a “hands-on”, self starter personality.
- Proven leadership skills with multi-disciplinary staff and projects.
- Very good interpersonal and communications skills (written, verbal and computer).
- Have a general appreciation for outdoors.
- Advanced leadership skills to provide guidance on individual development, lead the modification of existing processes, and propose new solutions for improved efficiency.
- Practical work methods to take part in small projects and repairs with the goal of fully understanding general plant processes and operations.
- Adaptable: able to work effectively within multi-disciplinary team environment consisting of Engineering, Project Management, Operations and Maintenance employees at all levels.
- Supportive of the development of new technologies and methods.
- Highly independent and self-directed: anticipates requirements, seeks opportunities, and develops and implements solutions to complex plant processes and operations.
- Safety: good understanding and application of electrical, mechanical, and general safety standards.
Additional considerations
- The position is based at the Kwalsa site at the North end of Harrison Lake.
- Must be comfortable spending many consecutive days in a camp setting.
- This position is a O4 level.
- You need to possess a BC driver’s license in good standing: experience with 4-wheel drives and snowmobiles is required (Class 1 driver’s licence an asset).
Site and work details
- The site is a remote work site located approximately 120 minutes out of Pemberton and Harrison Hot Spring (the marshalling points).
- Employees work schedule is 4 days on and 3 days off at 10 hours per day for a total of 80 working hours per two (2) week period. Travel time between the marshalling point and the site is included in these hours.
- Employees are provided with a pickup for travel between the marshalling point and site and for use on site.
- Employees are required to stay at company provided accommodations while on shift.
- Employees are provided with furnished accommodation while working on site: cable TV, telephones and internet access are available.
- Employees are provided with a Living out Allowance for each day they are on site.

Pay Transparency Statement
Compensation for roles at Innergex varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, and level of experience. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
In the spirit of pay transparency we are excited to share the base salary for the position is $90 000 - $113 000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired by Innergex, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
