The Position:
Reporting to the Shop Manager, this position is responsible for the daily activities on the shop floor, including building custom creates, crating, packaging, and supporting various shop roles. Successful candidates will rotate through different labourer positions and assist with order fulfillment, shop cleanliness, and maintenance. This role involves physically demanding tasks such as lifting, loading and unloading machines, moving materials, and maintaining organized work areas. Candidates must be comfortable working with power tools and in a fast-paced environment while handling a variety of shop duties as needed.
The Tasks
-Skillfully build custom crates to protect products during shipping
-Pack and prepare orders for shipment with care and accuracy
-Manage all equipment and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner
-Direct handling of products throughout the packaging and shipping process
-Manually lift, stack, load, and unload materials as required
-Maintain shop cleanliness and organization to support a safe and efficient work environment
-Follow all workplace health and safety policies, including WHMIS, OH&S, WCB, and internal procedures
-Read and interpret work orders and shipping instructions accurately
-Carefully crate and pack final products to meet quality and shipping standards
-Perform other duties as assigned
The Qualifications and Requirements:
- 1-2 years shop experience
- Must be comfortable and experienced with power tools such as skill saws, drills, and levels.
- Steel toe boots
- Physical capacity to perform heavy lifting (up to approx. 50+ pounds) on a repetitive basis.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent attendance and work record
- Positive attitude
- Willingness to move from one position to the next as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50-$19.50 per hour
