Founded over 40 years ago, Metal-Air Mechanical Systems Ltd. is a Sudbury-based mechanical contracting company which services the industrial, commercial, and institutional markets. Serving Northern and Central Ontario, Metal-Air is looking for a skilled, highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our team in the role of: Sheet Metal Journeyperson.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load, unload materials, tools, supplies and work machinery from truck or trailer.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
- Measure, cut, bend, shape and straighten sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery, such as shears, brakes, punches, and drill presses.
- Assemble and install sheet metal products according to drawings and blueprints.
- Lay out patterns and templates for fabrication based on design specifications.
- Join sheet metal parts by welding, soldering, riveting, or using mechanical fasteners and adhesives.
- Ensure components meet quality and safety standards, with accurate measurements and tight tolerances.
- Inspect installations for conformance with building codes and customer specifications.
- Work safely at heights, following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and other trades on construction or retrofit projects.
- Perform any trade-related tasks, as required.
Qualifications/required skills:
- Sheet Metal Worker Trade in Ontario – 308A
- Able to prioritize constantly changing and conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines and working under pressure.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and /or reasoning.
- Punctual and motivated.
- Strong work ethic.
- Able to adapt to and learn new software.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Able to handle heavy loads.
- Able to work in a team environment and independently.
- Possess valid Class G driver’s licence and clean driving abstract.
- May be subject to provide a clean criminal record check.
Working Conditions:
- Physically demanding role
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week (Monday to Thursday)
- Must be able to work on various construction job sites.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application.
- May be required to work sparingly out of town during the workweek.
- Must provide own steel-toe boots and personal hand tools.
