Job Description
• Leading the engineering design and managing the project team, schedule and budget on a variety of projects;
• Designing and stamping medium to complex structural designs;
• Maintaining a technical advisory role for clients throughout the project term;
• Identifying business opportunities and pursuing new projects and new clients
• Preparing engineering service proposals;
• Liaising with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors;
• Preparing specifications and drawings for building permit and tender;
• Overseeing and providing construction review services;
• Preparing technical specifications and reports;
• Providing technical direction and peer review for junior team members;
• Overseeing the work of junior and intermediate staff and providing guidance and mentorship;
• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
• Completion of a university degree in Structural Engineering;
• Minimum 10 years of design experience on structural engineering projects (minimum 5 years on Ontario projects);
• Strong ability to coordinate with various design disciplines and construction teams on large scale complex projects;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, in good standing;
• Familiar with Ontario building codes and design standards;
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit;
• Working knowledge of structural design software (ETABS, SAFE, SFRAME, SAP, Woodworks, etc.);
• Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and time management;
• Ability to monitor client satisfaction (internal and external), Establish partner relationship with clients, and remain accessible to clients.
• Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team; and
• Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
