Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to drive the growth and expansion of new business opportunities within the telecommunications sector of mining and industrial. The consultant will play a pivotal role in identifying and capitalizing on emerging trends, fostering strategic partnerships, and delivering innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability in mining and industrial operations.

This is a full-time hybrid position based at a Worley office in Canada: Alberta, Ontario, or British Columbia; or in the United States: Houston, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; or Denver, Colorado.


Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:


Technical Expertise and Thought Leadership:

  • Detail orientated with significant consulting experience and proven network.

  • Strong self-starter, entrepreneurial mindset and motivated.

  • Practical consulting experience - including scoping, selling, and delivery.

  • Excellent communication skills including ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, produce concise reports and presentations appropriate for all levels.

  • Assists, and later, leads the preparation of proposals, execution plans and budgets.

  • Supports a continuous improvement culture and identifies gaps, develops work processes, tools, and methodologies to drive productivity and growth.

  • Generates business opportunities.

  • Drives business and Worley pull-through opportunities through the organization.

  • Takes the lead to identify and develop new services to meet changing customer needs.

  • Uses an understanding of clients’ changing business environments to develop new services.

  • Presents solutions in terms of incremental economic value and competitive advantage to clients.

  • Knowledge resource for the telecommunications field including the design of telecommunications networks including fixed cabling and wireless networks and able to lead discussions with clients.

  • Develop network architecture design to support Process Automation and Autonomous solutions in Mining, Oil and Gas and Chemical industries.

  • Provide technical direction for the design, configuration and troubleshooting of firewalls, routers, switches and other network infrastructure (Office and Field Experience required).

  • Experience of research, quantitative analysis, structured problem solving and executive communication techniques.

  • Experience in development and deployment of complex telecommunications systems including fixed cabling, Wi-Fi and LTE/5G solutions to support autonomous operations in industry.

Leadership:

  • Takes ownership for project success: delivery of target quality, cost management and customer satisfaction.

  • Proactively builds a knowledge base of tools and methodologies to drive productivity and growth.

  • Lead role in work process improvement.

  • Models safety excellence; proactive in identification of and closure to gaps.

Team Collaboration and Supervision:

  • Effectively communicates (verbal and written) expertise to peers and customers and facilitates communications across multi-party activities; helps others develop these skills.

  • Leads post-project audits, translating key lessons into improvement actions.

  • Organizes and leads company meetings with customers.

  • Leverages and helps develop the diverse background and skills of people for the attainment of company goals.

  • Plans and executes projects through teamwork with other departments and with outside organizations.

  • Identifies gaps and builds an environment which has readily accessible knowledge and continuous learning.

  • Mentors and assists with career development of junior consultants.

What you will bring:

Technical and Industry Experience: 

  • Experience in mining, heavy industry, industrial operations, Oil & Gas, and Chemical industries.

  • Accomplished in system designs for access control, surveillance CCTV, fire detection systems, VoIP telephony, SCADA, preferred private LTE, public address (PA) systems and Wi-Fi systems on IP networks.

  • Knowledgeable in UIT-T, UIT-R, TIA, IEEE, ISO/IEC, and CSA standards.

  • Fluent in English (read, write and speak).

  • Experienced in basic and detailed engineering and implementation of high-availability network architectures for LAN/WAN networks in industrial surface and underground environments.

  • Experience in the design and implementation of Wi-Fi and Private LTE networks for industrial facilities.

  • Practical experienced in network design for buildings and industrial facilities including data centers, inside and outside plant (OSP).

  • Experience in the implementation of cybersecurity planning and implementation within industrial facilities.

  • Experience in various industrial networks including Ethernet, Ethernet IP, Profibus, etc.

  • Field Experience in deployment and / or operations of telecommunication Systems.

  • Field Experience in the commissioning of telecommunication Systems.

  • Experience with various telecommunications and networking products required. 

  • Experience in various phases of vendor selection and technical negotiation is preferred. 

  • Experience in inspection and testing of equipment items preferred. 

  • Experience in equipment installation requirements preferred. 

  • Registered Professional Engineering license preferred. 

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Recognized Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college or University.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a P.Eng. (Canada) or P.E. (U.S.) license in the applicable location where the role is based.

Additional Information:

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is CAD $189,810 to $279,133.

Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
