Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Buildings for our Sudbury office to take on a leadership role within the team. This position offers a unique opportunity for succession planning as the current leader transitions to retirement. The ideal candidate will oversee projects, mentor team members, and eventually assume responsibility for the continued success of the Sudbury office's operations and project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, construction support, and commissioning of electrical systems for building projects, including power distribution, lighting, and life safety systems.
- Oversee the preparation of specifications, design drawings, and project documentation.
- Conduct field reviews, inspections, and ensure all work complies with applicable codes and standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for major clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff to develop their skills and expertise.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and innovative solutions for complex projects.
- Play a critical role in succession planning by transitioning into a leadership role within the Sudbury office, ensuring continuity and growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; valid Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) registered with PEO.
- Minimum of 15 years in designing and managing electrical systems for building projects, with experience in a leadership role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, and fire safety systems.
- Familiarity with Canadian and North American electrical codes and standards.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation tools.
- Proven ability to mentor and lead teams, with a focus on succession planning and office operations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver on time.
Preferred Skills:
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) registered with PEO.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient and sustainable design principles.
- Experience managing operations or a portfolio of projects in a consulting environment.
