Sourcing and Contracting (50%)
- Develop and execute end-to-end purchasing strategies for key categories, including market analysis, creating and running RFIs/RFPs, and structured information analysis to support supplier selection.
- Actively collaborate with procurement leadership to develop, implement, and refine effective procurement policies, procedures, and strategies that enhance internal controls.
- Evaluate suppliers and supply markets based on facts and data to provide meaningful insights to the departmental users.
- Lead the full negotiation lifecycle for purchases under their responsibility, from creating detailed pre-negotiation plans and cost models to conducting negotiation sessions and ensuring favorable contract terms.
- Collaborate with Legal to draft, review, and manage contracts, master service agreements, and work orders
Vendor & Stakeholder Management (30%)
- Serve as a key contact for internal stakeholders, providing guidance on budgetary impacts, fostering savings strategies, ensuring compliance to policies and applicable regulations and working collaboratively with users to achieve business objectives.
- Oversee and support user departments in their vendor management activities by helping establish governance frameworks, effective communication channels, and periodic business reviews.
- Proactively manage vendor relationships by ensuring performance metrics are embedded in agreements, monitoring KPIs, and driving continuous improvement
Continuous Improvement & Reporting (20%)
- Champion the use of the ERP procurement module, providing support and training to end-users to ensure adoption and efficiency.
- Leverage data analytics to prepare and present procurement reports, monitor performance against benchmarks, and inform strategic decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance vendor performance, optimize costs, and refine procurement processes
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 4-6 years of progressive experience in a procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain role.
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field is required. An Honors or Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience in a Contract Research Organization (CRO), pharmaceutical, biotech, or a similarly regulated industry is highly desirable.
- A professional procurement, supply chain, or project management certification (e.g., SCMP, CPSM, CIPS, PMP) is a significant advantage.
