We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for Alberta Boot Company, one of Avenue Living's private equity companies. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will lead core accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations, while supporting period-end close, financial reporting, and external reporting preparation.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Process supplier invoices, manage approval workflows, and schedule and process vendor payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate accounts payable records.
- Oversee the generation and issuance of customer invoices, monitor accounts receivable aging, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Support customer collections and respond to billing inquiries to ensure timely payments.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile intercompany accounts and other key balance sheet accounts.
- Track and manage deferred revenue, ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies.
- Review and process employee expense reimbursements and credit card transactions.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and deferrals.
- Support the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and prepare supporting documentation for internal and external financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and accounting standards (ASPE).
WHAT WILL YOU NEED?
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation (or in final stages of completion) preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or product-based business.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including AP, AR, deferred revenue, and reconciliations.
- Experience with inventory or cost accounting.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong aptitude in Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xoro, or similar.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of payroll compliance and employee expenses is an asset.
