Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Under general supervision, protects property from theft or damage. Protects all persons on premise from hazards or interference, will perform product checks entering and leaving the facility to check for irregularities.
Essential Functions:
1. Document incoming and outgoing Client product from the loading dock.
a. Meet and greet all drivers, collecting their information.
b. Document destinations of the product, both leaving and arriving at the facility.
c. Report to Supervisor, all infractions, oddities, and irregularities.
2. Works closely with the logistics team for the client and maintain great relationships.
3. Responds to Emergency Situations such as fires, Chemical Spills, Medical Emergencies, Phone Threats, answers alarms and investigate disturbances and be a part of the established Emergency Response Team (ERT).
4. Provides customer service in accordance with company established standards and expectations.
a. Provides escort services for occupants of client property, as requested.
b. Provides public assistance, including lockout and other services and information.
5. Makes immediate reports to designated company and client personnel and information.
6. Answers telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information to employees when requested.
7. Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
8. Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security/safety of premises.
9. Completing monthly, weekly, and daily tasks assigned.
10. May be requested to perform other duties as assigned by Manager’s needs.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Patrols:
a. Guard, Patrol, or monitor premises to prevent safety hazards, theft, violence, or infractions of rules.
b. Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
c. Patrols commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
2. Uses proper body mechanics while performing duties.
3. Remain alert and aware of the surroundings.
4. Able to think clearly during crisis or high-stress periods.
5. Possess empathetic abilities in dealing with employees and their questions.
6. Demonstrate ability to work with others and interact appropriately.
7. Maintains communication with the Security team. Relays information regarding events or situations that may affect operations.
8. Willingness to learn all aspects of the job and progress through the Level system within the time stipulated.
9. Security Control certified within 6 months of hire in accordance with the level progression policy.
Working Conditions:
1. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
2. Ability to walk up to 1-2 hours every 4hrs
3. Must be flexible to work scheduled and non/scheduled hours as required.
4. May be exposed to high levels of noise or variations in weather and temperature.

Valid First Aid and CPR certificate - Good Computer skills especially with MS Office suite and ability to learn to use Security management and CRM software.

- Ability to complete frequent patrols
- Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently), ability to speak French is consider an asset

Monday to Thursday - 1600 - 2400, Saturday - 1200 - 2400
