Seasonal Transportation Operator
November 3, 2025 – March 27, 2026, 40 Hours/Week
$29.98 - $35.07/hour
The Municipality of Grey Highlands is receiving applications to fill Seasonal Transportation Operator positions. Reporting to the TPS Team Leader or their designate, the successful candidates will perform duties in accordance with departmental and corporate work plans and priorities. It should be noted that availability for emergencies, weekends and holiday shifts is a requirement of this position.

What you will do:
· Operating heavy equipment such as graders, snowplows, backhoes, etc. for the proper maintenance of municipal roads and proper disposal of waste (gravel and pavement, sidewalks, ditches, culverts bridges, guardrails, guideposts, signs, etc.).
· Providing safe conditions for the public (removal of ice, rubbish, tree limbs, etc.).
· Responding to emergency calls (storms and accidents) in order to restore roads to pre-emergency conditions, when completing roads tasks.
· Maintaining equipment to ensure it is in good operational condition for safe use.
· Communicating with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
· Perform patrol and maintenance duties such as road/sidewalk inspections, snow removal, and waste disposal.
· Report asset repair needs and support other departments as required.
· Working safely within the law and safe work practices/procedures (understanding and following standard operating procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, using MSDS information, ensuring all guards are in place).
What the ideal candidate will possess:
· Completion of OSSD (Grade 12) or equivalent.
· A minimum of two (2) years experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment and machinery, preferably within a municipal setting.
· Valid DZ Driver’s License.
· Working knowledge of all application legislation, by-laws, and policies related to transportation services in a municipal setting.
· Working knowledge of the skilled operation of similar heavy equipment and machinery and ability to make minor adjustments and repairs on equipment used.
· Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgement and initiative when dealing with coworkers, supervisors and the public.
What we will require:
· A Police Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the Municipality
· Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualifications, if applicable
· Clean Drivers Abstract
· Three valid references for a background check
