Seafood Market Development Project Lead
Perennia Food and Agriculture Inc. is Nova Scotia’s development agency focusing on the food sector. Our mission is supporting growth, transformation and economic development in Nova Scotia’s agriculture, seafood, cannabis, and food and beverage sectors.
Perennia, in partnership with The Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, is looking for a proactive market development professional to support the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture market development team to promote and grow the Nova Scotia seafood economy. The position will be located in the Halifax, Nova Scotia office. This is a term position for a period of 12 months and may be extended.
Principal Responsibilities:
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Develop, plan, and deliver national and international export-driven market development initiatives, campaigns, promotions, and culinary events in cooperation with key department contacts, government partners, and industry.
- Support the Nova Scotia Loyal program administered through the Nova Scotia Department of Growth and Development by assisting with seafood promotions and other seafood related initiatives.
- Provide project management and logistical planning support for market development initiatives, trade missions, workshops, and special events.
- Graphic design of marketing materials such as posters, Infographics, banners, postcards, social media posts, presentations.
- Produce engaging content for the Nova Scotia Seafood Brand's social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, aimed at promoting and increasing the awareness of Nova Scotia seafood.
- Cultivate networks with the Nova Scotia seafood businesses and industry partners.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on business, marketing, communications, or public relations and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Proven experience managing a project end to end in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience organizing and delivering promotional events/campaigns.
- Proven work experience in digital marketing and brand strategy.
- Graphic design experience and video editing, website content management systems, and social media scheduling software
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other design software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in writing and presenting clear, concise documents to a range of audiences.
- Adaptable to changing priorities, excellent attention to detail, and ability to work proactively and collaboratively.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Proven track record of market development achievements.
- Experience in international market development or international trade is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the seafood industry.
Perennia offers a competitive compensation package based on the candidate’s skill and experience. This includes base salary, benefits, personal days and three weeks’ vacation to start.
