Blue Heron Adventures in Tobermory Ontario is looking for a Dive Instructor to add to their team for the 2025 season. All applicants must be a Canadian Citizen or have a valid work permit to work in Canada. Wage based on experience.

Main Functions:
The Dive Instructor primary function is to educate and train individuals on the necessary skills and safety procedures to become certified scuba divers, teaching the diving theory, equipment usage, and practical techniques.
Job Duties:
The Dive Instructor will assist with or perform some or all of the following duties:
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Running DSD, Reactivate, and PADI core course
- Teaching PADI spec and con ed courses
- Act as a dive guide for hire upon request
- Maintain accurate student records, waivers and PADI forms
- Sell con-ed courses and dive gear in the retail store fronts
- Direct students to training centre, boat, or dive site locations
- Greet students, provide assistance, answer questions
- Ensure the dive centre, retail areas, classrooms and all storage areas are clean and tidy and free from hazards
- Ensure products and merchandised and shelves well stocked
- Keep dive gear clean, serviced and maintained, tanks filled
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- PADI OWSI certification is required
- PADI Staff instructors and Course Directors welcome to apply
- Basic First Aid/CPR certification (PADI EFRI)
- Fill station Operator Certification, an asset
- EANx Gas Blender Certification, an asset
Essential Skill Requirements:
- Cold water diving experience
- Previous dive instructor experience
- A passion for teaching and developing new divers
- Dexterity and physical fitness
- Ability to stand, walk or swim for long periods
- Superior oral communication skills *multi-lingual an asset*
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Punctual, meticulous and reliable
Working Conditions:
- Instruction season approx. June - September
- no shifts start before 7:00am or finish after 10:00pm
- 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break
- Working in a range of temperatures, cold/hot, indoor/outdoor, underwater/dry
- Weather dependant shifts may be cancelled without notice
- Uniform must be purchased and worn on shift
