Role Details
RIOT chapters seek to bridge the gap between complex research topics and the broader audience. RIOT aims to enhance the visibility of CCS researchers as well as cancer research, awareness and advocacy with the Canadian public and beyond.
Description
- Work alongside a community of chapters that operate in different provinces and territories across Canada.
- Connect with your community to host RIOT events and develop partnerships
- Recruit, lead, support and coordinate volunteers at identified events as they represent CCS and promote cancer research advances and initiatives.
- Submit a preliminary budget by early August for approval to the CCS Research team (budget to include a plan and potential costs for the upcoming fiscal year - February to the end of January)
- Submit an impact report on events/talks/collaborations completed for each fiscal year.
- Lead monthly team meetings and attend bimonthly RIOT leads meetings.
- Attend annual leadership retreat for chapter leads (virtual or in person).
- Share resources created for RIOT events with the CCS Research team and all RIOT chapters.

What we're looking for
The ideal candidate has:
- Been enrolled in at least a Master’s-level research program (higher levels of education are welcomed)
- Ability to lead and oversee multiple groups and projects.
- Has passion for cancer research and knowledge translation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, excellent time management skills
- RIOT members should be working and/or training in research and/or a cancer research-related field. Each chapter will have 2 co-leads.

Your commitment
- One year term (September through to the following September) with opportunity for renewal; 2 – 5 hours per week combined independent and team work.
- Transition training for onboarding the next Chapter Lead is required, may extend beyond 12 month commitment
