About the Job
The Aerial Technician/Rigger (Entry Level) is a position directed at allowing workers to gain experience and knowledge ibn the Telecommunication field. Qualified candidates would be responsible for assisting the site foremen and lead hand in all aspects of managing the construction and maintenance of communication tower and installing various tower components.
Responsibilities
- Install and service communication towers, rooftops, and various site types for major wireless carriers in Canada.
- Climb towers to perform the safe installation of steel structures, components, hardware, antenna installation and alignments.
- Installation of antenna and transmission line systems on towers, rooftops, and other structures.
- Cable termination and splicing.
- Read and follow construction drawings or specialized methods of procedures to perform installation or maintenance on equipment or sites.
- Participate in daily tailboard safety meetings.
- Retain training and develop a strong knowledge of safe rigging practices
- The above responsibilities represent the major tasks of this position; they are not intended to be an exhaustive list. Therefore, performing other related tasks may be required on occasion.
Qualifications:
- Willing to climb towers up to 500 feet required (fall arrest and fall rescue training provided).
- Reliable and committed to developing skills as a telecom rigger; motivated to learn and grow in the telecommunication industry.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to bend and lift 50 lbs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (able to work closely with others for long periods of time).
- Must be available to travel.
Success in the role
- General construction knowledge.
- Climbing or working at heights experience.
- Self-leadership qualities fortified with the ability to coach.
- First Aid with CPR-A + AED.
- Adherence to safety standards, working knowledge of all safety and quality control requirements, fall protection practices, regulations, and procedures for crew.
- Valid G, A-restricted or AZ driver’s license, clean driver’s abstract meeting company policy conditions, and knowledge of CVOR regulations.
- Post-Secondary education in a technology-related program.
Work Environment
- Regular hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, however some flexibility is required.
- Year-round, hands-on work on rooftop cell sites and towers.
- Work outside, at heights or in confined spaces.
- Heavy lifting, manual work and proficient use of installation tools.
- Work with a team of 3-5 technicians on a range of projects including site build, maintenance, upgrade, and decommission.
- All extra Covid PPEs provided, maintaining distance on job sites.
