Overview
The Resident Aide plays a crucial role in providing compassionate and personalized care to residents in assisted living and nursing home settings. This position is designed for individuals who are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those with varying needs, including seniors and individuals with disabilities. The Resident Aide will assist residents with daily activities, ensuring a clean and safe environment while fostering a supportive atmosphere.
Duties
1. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting.
2. Help residents with mobility, positioning, and safe transfers using appropriate equipment and techniques.
3. Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate.
4. Assist nursing staff in routine medical procedures and provide support during emergencies.
5. Serve meals, assist with feeding, and ensure dietary requirements are met.
6. Maintain cleanliness of residents’ rooms, change bed linens, and ensure overall hygiene standards are met.
7. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents.
8. Monitor and report any changes in residents’ health status to nursing staff.
9. Adhere to infection prevention, safety protocols, and facility policies.
Skills
- Experience in assisted living or nursing home environments is preferred.
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on patient care and empathy.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and assisting residents with mobility challenges.
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with residents, families, and team members.
Qualifications:
- Secondary School diploma and on-the-job training or a personal support worker, nursing aide or health care aide college or private institutional program, or a college nursing orderly program and supervised practical training are required
- 1+ years of previous experience is preferred while on-the-job training is offered.
- CPR/First Aid certification required.
