Centre for Clinical Investigations & Therapeutics (CCIT) The Centre for Clinical Investigations & Therapeutics is a state-of-the-art clinical research facility on Level 5 of the Lindros Legacy Research Building at University Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre. Investigators from across London have full access to the facility, and thereby function as an indispensable and integral component for strengthening and expanding the clinical and basic research programs in London. Reporting to both the Medical Director and Operations Manager of the CCIT, the successful candidates will be responsible for direct study subject safety monitoring, drug administration, and study related procedures directed by the study protocol and the study Physician.

Temporary Casual

Rate of Pay:
$40.60 - $50.75
Hours of Work: Casual - flexibility to work shifts as required
Duration: 12 months - contract may be renewable


Teaching, Learning and Research

London Health Sciences Centre is proudly one of Canada's largest acute-care teaching and research hospitals. LHSC has an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning, with education agreements in collaboration with over 55 schools, hospitals, and community agencies from across Ontario, Canada and internationally; among our many education partners, our three regional partners are Western University, Fanshawe College, and Thames Valley District School Board. LHSC provides students with a place that they can learn and discover knowledge and skills to take them forward in their careers as health care professionals. Approximately 2,900 Nursing, Health and other students ranging from secondary school to university graduate level programs receive training at LHSC every year. As an employee of LHSC, you will be expected to engage in role-related teaching, professional development, and research activities in addition to standard position duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Proficiency in performing venipuncture
  • Experience with IV initiation and managing infusions
  • Familiarity with IV medication infusion pumps
  • Patient assessment skills including vital signs
  • Availability to be pre-scheduled weekly
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team
  • Previous experience in clinical research is considered an asset
  • Ideal applicant will be reliable, organized, independent, capable of multi-tasking and able to collaborate and take responsibility in meeting deadlines
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required with ability to effectively convey research information and provide authority where necessary
  • Capacity and willingness to learn new research methods and work routines quickly with flexibility in adapting and responding to new research opportunities as they arise
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member when liaising with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family-centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Purpose, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Preferred
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses Ontario preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers course: BLS-HCP(C) preferred
  • Research Clinical Trial experience or certification in Clinical Research an asset
  • Demonstrated excellent record keeping skills and experience with data collection
