Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Operations Superintendent, this position supervises, schedules and coordinates the work of the overhead line crew engaged in the construction and repair, alteration and maintenance of new and existing overhead transmission, distribution and street lighting systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervises, schedules and coordinates the work of the overhead line crew engaged in the construction and repair, alteration and maintenance of new and existing overhead transmission, distribution and street lighting systems.
  • Ensures adherence to proper procedures, safety standards, construction standards and other specifications.
  • Assists with the Apprentice Training Program and Safety Training Program.
  • Maintains records of time and materials spent on each job.
  • Coordinates the switching procedures pertaining to the overhead distribution facilities.
  • Assists with continuous staff training and development.
  • Assists the Operations Superintendent with the programming of overhead work, development of work methods; coordinates work with other utilities, developers, contractors, inspectors and other on-site staff.
  • Works directly with engineering design staff and other staff daily.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Educaton, Training and Experience Requirements
  • Grade 12 education.
  • Possession of a Saskatchewan Journeyman Power Lineman Certificate.
  • Five years' experience as a Journeyman Powerline Technician in an electric utility distribution system.
  • Possession of, or ability to successfully complete within 6 months after date of hire, a valid Saskatchewan Class 1A Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of overhead distribution systems and the ability to learn new system developments.
  • Ability to supervise, train and develop staff.
  • Ability to make efficient use of staff and equipment provided.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
Weekly Hours: 37.33
Salary Range: $51.75 CAD per hour (2023 rates)
