Join Christie Ossington Neighbourhood Centre (CONC) as a Relief Cook and help nourish our community by preparing high-quality meals for residents in our shelter and housing programs. In this vital front-line role, you’ll be part of a team committed to creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces — one plate at a time.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and serve hot, nutritious meals for residents and participants
- Maintain cleanliness and follow health and safety standards in all food prep areas
- Store, rotate, and track food supplies and kitchen inventory
- Clean dishes, kitchen equipment, and food service areas
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and placement students to deliver excellent service
- Report safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors
What You Bring
- Experience cooking in a professional kitchen or food service environment
- Comfortable preparing meals for large groups and following special dietary needs
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate
- Knowledge of WHMIS and safe kitchen practices
- Ability to lift supplies and perform cleaning duties in a fast-paced setting
- Team spirit, flexibility, and respect for diverse communities
- Culinary training or equivalent experience is an asset
