️ What You’ll Do:
- Patrol and Protect: Monitor hospital buildings and grounds by foot and mobile unit, using advanced surveillance and video monitoring systems.
- Respond and Resolve: Act swiftly to emergencies, including disaster plans, emergency codes, and incidents involving aggressive individuals—always with a focus on de-escalation and collaboration.
- Support and Safeguard: Provide security escorts for staff and patients, respond to assistance requests, and ensure a safe and orderly environment for everyone.
- Investigate and Report: Handle disturbances using non-violent interventions and document incidents in line with established procedures.
- Collaborate and Care: Work closely with medical staff and the patient care team to maintain a secure, respectful workplace.
What You Bring:
- A valid BC Security Guard License
- Advanced Security Training Certification
- At least 1 year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training
- A calm, professional demeanor and a commitment to relational, trauma-informed security practices

Detailed Overview:
Reporting to the Coordinator, Relational Security, IPS Operations, the Relational Security Officer maintains and enforces security of persons and property in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Patrols buildings and grounds by foot and by mobile unit, including utilizing computerized surveillance equipment and video monitoring systems. Enforces regulations and security procedures. Identifies risks, safety and security hazards and takes appropriate action. Checks doors, windows and entrances, securing same to prevent unauthorized entrance by others.
- Responds to emergencies such as the Health Organization Disaster Plans, emergency Codes, and physically aggressive patients/persons; assesses the situation, consults with medical staff and others, and takes appropriate action as required.
- Investigates, resolves and reports disturbances utilizing non-violent interventions. Documents and reports incidents in accordance with established Protection Services procedures.
- Provides security for Health Organization patients, as requested by the patient care team, to maintain a safe and orderly workplace. Provides security escort for staff and patients as required. Responds to requests for assistance from staff, patients and the public.
- Participates in photo identification and security system programs through methods such as taking staff photos, card access information and entering database information.
- Utilizes and operates various security systems such as; access control, CCTV, panic/duress, photo identification and other security system programs.
- Provides pre/post flight safety inspections of heliports following appropriate departmental procedures.
- Liaises with fire, police and other related community officials regarding fire and security protocol, response, incidents and investigations per department guidelines.
- Provides First Aid services to injured persons, completes required documentation and maintains supplies.
- Maintains a daily log of events and prepares detailed reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Training & Experience
