Position Overview:
The position provides governance over four key Risk Management and Corporate Compliance activities:
1) Managing the review process for all Corporate policies.
2) Support the development of formal risk-based submissions to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), including the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and Resolution Plan.
3) Support Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Program initiatives.
4) Provide advice and challenge on an enterprise-wide basis for assigned regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the review schedule for all policy and mandate documents, ensuring sponsors are aware of, and meet, target completion dates.
- Assess policy submissions to ensure each meet the criteria set out Policy & Procedure Framework Policy with consistency of presentation and format.
- Provide advice and direction on the structure of new policies.
- Summarize significant changes in documentation and reporting for presentation to Senior Management and the Board.
ICAAP (accountable to VP Credit and Risk Management), AND RECOVERY PLAN (accountable to VP, Operational Risk)
- Manage the governance structure for the ICAAP and Recovery Plan exercises. This includes acting as Secretary for the ICAAP Working Group meetings and maintaining a central repository of all ICAAP and Resolution Plan information and documentation.
- Maintenance and development of calculations and documentation related to the ICAAP Pillar II.
- Ensure appropriate review of ICAAP and Recovery Plan related materials submitted by subject matter experts (SMEs), for consistency and completeness and reaching out to SMEs for input and clarification.
- Prepare and format the final ICAAP and Recovery Plan documents for presentation to the Board and OSFI.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT
- Act as subject matter expert for assigned applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support mapping of controls to applicable regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with impacted Business Units regarding regulatory change to ensure compliance risks are effectively mitigated.
OTHER
- Key technical resource for the development of strategic software utilized to compile and assess Corporate Compliance data and information, regulatory requests and regulatory audits as required, with adherence to organizational standards.
- Participate in other compliance-related projects as they arise.
Qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent in a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in an audit, manager or reporting role.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office products, including programming skills for Access Databases and SharePoint.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to understand the CIBC Mellon structure and product offering.
- Ability to interpret and comprehend regulatory laws and guidelines as applicable.
- Technical background in writing Regulatory reports and/or Policies is an asset.
