YW Calgary is looking to add an Outreach Case Manager to our team! As an Outreach Case Manager with YW Calgary, you will be a crucial part of a transformative initiative that supports families in breaking the cycle of violence. Your role will make a significant impact on the lives of those you serve and will also strengthen YW Calgary’s influence and leadership in the community. The Outreach Case Managers' purpose is to provide support, referrals and advocacy to women living in Calgary and surrounding areas who are referred by Children and Family Services (CFS) and who may be experiencing domestic abuse.

This position is an 8-month contract working Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm, 37.5 hours per week. This role will require some flexibility in schedule to best serve clients and program requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Work collaboratively with Children and Family Services and other community agencies
  • As required, actively participate in CFS triage meetings
  • Develop creative and effective solutions to client issues
  • Make informed and timely decisions in the best interest of clients
  • Apply trauma-sensitive principles in all interactions
  • Provide immediate support and solutions during crisis situations
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding towards individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Conduct thorough assessments of client needs.
  • Develop and implement effective case plans tailored to each family
  • Manage multiple cases efficiently and in a time sensitive manner
  • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently whether on site or off site
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understand the complexities and dynamics of domestic violence
  • Provide appropriate support and interventions for victims and perpetrators
  • Teach and model self-regulatory skills to clients
  • Maintain personal composure and effectiveness under stress
  • Perform and connect clients to referrals and appropriate long-term services
  • Adhere to ethical standards in all interactions and services
  • Keep accurate and detailed case notes in appropriate databases

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment
  • Bachelor's degree of Social Work or equivalent in human services field
  • Professional Social Worker registration is a strong asset
  • Minimum of 2 years' work experience in the field of family violence, outreach or case management
  • Knowledge of trauma informed approaches and of the Child Welfare System
  • Requires a class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Understanding and knowledge of relevant community resources, referral processes, legislation and regulations
  • Strong understanding of brain development and healthy mental function
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite, able to learn additional software quickly
  • ASIST, NVCI, Brain Story, First Aid and CPR certifications required within 3 months of employment
