Job Summary
Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, The Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for maintaining the Quality requirements on various projects in a shop environment. This includes IWL Steel Fabricators standard quality requirements, contractual requirements and construction code / legislative requirements. The Quality Control Inspector will work closely with production staff to provide technical support, perform the required Quality inspections and maintain documentation.
Duties
- Perform inspections as required by the Inspection and Test Plan
- Review of drawings to ensure components comply with the design requirements
- Document inspections as required and compile turnover documentation
- Identify and document non-conforming work and assist in determining remedial actions
- Educate shop personnel on the required standards
- Monitor in process welding and fabrication to ensure compliance with the applicable codes, welding procedures, welder qualifications
- Assist in internal and external audits as required
- Coordinate with NDE contractor, review NDE reports to ensure accuracy.
Qualifications
- CSA W178.2 Level 1 weld inspection certificate – ASME B31.3 code endorsement considered an asset
- 2 years quality control experience
- Basic knowledge of NDE processes
- Previous experience with ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, CSA W59 and CSA W47.1 codes of construction
- Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time in a fast-paced environment
