Focus
Our Osoyoos packing facility receives fruit (including cherries, peaches, and apples) in bulk from Okanagan-based growers and sorts it for quality and size before packaging it for shipment to our domestic and international customers. Ensuring customer specifications are adhered to is an important part of ensuring the quality of produce for our customers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure fruit is packed to required quality and food safety specifications by performing quality control checks at regular intervals on the packing line and on packed product, completing all related documentation
- Assist in assessing incoming fruit for quality
- Operate equipment to analyze fruit for export, including brix apparatus, pressure tester, Durafil, and Firm tech
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and standards regarding packaging and quality
- Assist with product inspections at shipping point
- Improve productivity and efficiency by acting as a floater on the production line, performing packer, sorter, and/or box filler tasks as needed
- Report quality, maintenance, and safety issues to Manager or Supervisor
- Participate in inventory counts when needed
- Maintain a healthy and safe work environment by participating as a member of the Health and Safety Committee; and ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety policies
- Maintain a clean work environment, during and at the end of the shift, using brooms, mops, cleaning wipes
- Completion of other responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience
- Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn in-house software programs (including Sky and Aurora)
- First Aid training is an asset
- Previous agriculture and/or packing facility experience is an asset
Working Conditions
Work is mainly conducted indoors in a fruit processing plant environment and can be subject to extreme temperature conditions. Plant operating hours are dependent on crop, production, and shipping needs, with extended hours and seven-day-a-week operations common through peak months (i.e., June through October). Positions are seasonal, with limited days off and extended hours as necessary through peak months (i.e. June through October).
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing
