PURCHASER
As Purchaser, you play an essential role in daily operations. You work closely with Production and Plant Operations to understand schedule, material and supply needs. You collaborate closely with customers, vendors and major materials suppliers to coordinate purchases that will ensure production can execute successfully.
We are seeking a person with the following skill set and competencies:
· Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
· Three to Five years purchasing materials experience.
- Experience in a steel manufacturing environment required.
- Experience with a variety of raw material purchasing is required.
· Communicates clearly and collaborates well with customers, vendors and team members.
· Related certifications, courses or diploma from a recognized post-secondary school is a requirement.
- A Supply Chain Procurement Certificate or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) Designation is preferred.
· Strong experience with MS Office Programs and ERP Systems.
- Above average experience with Excel a significant asset,
- Experience with Global Shop a significant asset.
· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to prioritize.
· Available to work overtime as business demand requires.
Your skills and competencies will help you:
Provide materials, goods and services on time and in the correct volumes at the best price. The ideal candidate will be versed in sourcing, negotiating, purchasing, raw material management and expediting. As Purchaser you are required to plan months ahead when preparing material forecasts, while also being prepared to ensure the daily requirements are consistently met.
· Ensure production demands are met with the receipt of materials at the intended time, volume, quality, and price.
· Attend production meetings to identify and resolve potential material and purchasing issues
· Responsible for raw material control, monitoring inventory levels/usage and costs.
· Review, monitor and act upon short-term and long-term forecasts for production requirements
· Request quotes for all raw materials, tools, parts, supplies, and other needs for plant and business operations
· Negotiating pricing
· Issue purchase orders in a timely manner; follow purchase order procedures to ensure accurate information.
· Generate reports for Purchase Order Receiving, Material Planning and Stock Status.
· Participate in inventory counts to ensure that stock levels are monitored.
· Gather necessary documentation for quality and health and safety, including material certifications, product certifications for FPI’s, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
· Manage existing vendor relationships through positive communication and assist with problem solving
· Maintain Supplier Performance Tracker; responsible for periodic vendor reviews and qualification of new suppliers.
