Edmonton Catholic Schools is looking for a temporary Project Manager to join their Capital Projects Team! The Project Manager, Facility Infrastructure is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of construction and improvement projects within the organization. This role ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. By coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders, the Project Manager contributes to the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure projects that support the organization's goals and objectives. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the physical environment of the organization's facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

1. Manage Construction Projects (40%)

  • Oversee the design, planning, and execution of new-build construction, improvement projects, and the Modular Classroom Program.
  • Coordinate project teams, including internal and external resources, to ensure project goals are met.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and milestones to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Building Code Legislation.
  • Resolve project-related issues and conflicts to maintain project progress and quality.


2. Coordinate Stakeholder Engagement (20%)

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the City of Edmonton, Province of Alberta, utility providers, consultants, contractors, and Division departments.
  • Facilitate effective communication between project teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Present project updates and reports to senior leadership and other stakeholders as required.
  • Address stakeholder concerns and feedback to ensure project success and stakeholder satisfaction.


3. Deliverables and Design Coordination (15%)

  • Organize and lead project meetings, including design coordination meetings, to ensure all team members are aligned and informed.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other design professionals to review and recommend design proposals, drawing packages, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure that design solutions meet client requirements and project goals.
  • Support the functional planning, programming, and interior design needs of projects.


4. Provide Technical Guidance (15%)

  • Review and recommend design proposals, drawing packages, and technical specifications prepared by architects and engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and interpretation of legislative requirements, such as Alberta Safety and Building Code Regulations, Fire Code, Municipal Bylaw, and Alberta Infrastructure Guidelines.
  • Research building products and construction methods to identify innovative solutions and best practices.


5. Ensure Compliance and Safety (10%)

  • Monitor work performed by contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Division Health and Safety Program.
  • Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions to reduce and eliminate risks.
  • Provide guidance on Safety and Building Code Regulations to ensure safe and compliant project execution.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Knowledge

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related area.
  • PMP certification or equivalent is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of compliance regulations, including Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Building Code Legislation.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Familiarity with construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Awareness of stakeholder management principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee the work of contractors and consultants.
