Career Opportunity


Reporting to the Head of Streetcar Infrastructure, the Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of assigned projects while ensuring consistency with applicable strategies, commitments and goals. This position is accountable for on-time, on budget and successful delivery of assigned projects.

What You Will Do


  • Facilitate and review project scope documentation, ensuring objectives are clearly defined and approved.
  • Present project scope justification to senior management, the Commission and other stakeholders as required.
  • Develop and define full scale project plans, initiatives, tasks and resource requirements.
  • Assemble and coordinate internal and external project resources, including consultants.
  • Implement and participate in regular reviews to ensure that project objectives and quality assurance standards are adhered to and met.
  • Establish the budget preparation schedule for projects, based on requirements.
  • Manage project budgets and hold project budget review meetings to ensure project budget adherence.
  • Direct the establishment of standard operating procedures for the administration of internal costing system, to ensure data validation and adherence to project cost control requirements.
  • Ensure effective budgetary control is in place by monitoring and analyzing performance measures as well as investigating over and under project expenditures/approvals/authorities.
  • Work with the immediate manager in reviewing and developing cost control procedures for all projects.
  • Plan, oversee, coordinate and monitor cost control activities (both incurred to date and forecast expenditures) related to ongoing projects.
  • Assist with the compilation and preparation of various Board Reports, Projects and Progress Status Reports, and other financial reports as required.
  • Ensure project control data and status reports are checked for consistency; assisting in the reconciliation of information among project team members as required.
  • Develop and maintain systems, standards, and procedure for projects on financial/ budgetary reporting.
  • Ensure projects are scheduled and produce timely reports on budget variance.
  • Monitor and report on progress of projects to all stakeholders.
  • Prepare appropriate project progress reports, project status reports, long range financial forecasts, budgeting roll-ups and variance analysis; and other financial / budgetary related reports.

What Qualifications Do You Bring


  • Your educational background will consist of a College Diploma or University Degree in Business Administration or related discipline; or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Completion of the Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation is considered an asset.
  • Your application will reveal progressive project management experience and demonstrated experience in budgeting and cost control.
  • In-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of project management, and project management techniques and tools.
  • You must have sound knowledge of scheduling practices and techniques in a project management organization.
  • Your application will demonstrate superior analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with interpersonal, planning, communication and presentation skills.
  • Your application will reveal proven experience and knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles, cost control, project and budget management.
  • You must have proven strategic planning, risk and change management experience.
  • You must have sound critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills along with adaptability to excel in a constantly changing environment.
  • You will be proficient with PC financial systems, project management software, spreadsheets, database design concepts, schedules and cost analysis methods.
  • Valid G Driver’s licence is considered an asset.
