KMC specializes in high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof in Orillia, Canada. Manufacturing unique heat resistant alloys and high nickel/chrome alloys primarily for the petrochemical industries, Kubota leads the industry in quality and advanced technology. As per customer requirements, Kubota designs and casts centrifugal pipes and static castings of fittings which are then machined, welded (Automatic, Semi-Automatic, Orbital & Manual) GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, followed by in house NDT (RT, PT, VT), in house DT, R&D lab, as well as hydro testing.
Summary:
Responsible for planning and establishing production schedules. Responsible for the allocation of work to provide for the efficient utilization of equipment, material and manpower. Monitors material inventory, tracks production progress, and estimates production completion dates in order to modify and adapt schedules as necessary to changing deadlines. Responsible for creating and maintaining production loading and schedules and monitoring actual results compared to the plan. The focus is on ensuring parts arrive at their required location at the appropriate time. Foster good communication between production departments as it relates to on time delivery to internal and external customers.
Major Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Generate and issue weekly production schedules as required.
- Develop and maintain all planning documentation for the departmental functions
- Liaising and coordinating across key stakeholders in connection with planning the internal delivery deadlines.
- Prioritize activities aligned with planning schedules
- Monitor and report on the progress of work to the schedule, and make adjustments as required with minimal direction
- Monitor scrapped parts and remakes as required
- Create, adjust and maintain planning updates, and management templates to measure, monitor and report on progress
- Execute recovery planning in order to provide amended schedules.
- Maintain visualization of the backlog.
- Estimating lead times for new projects based on loading/backlog and specific customer requirements.
- Input production orders
- Perform weekly inventory of the fabrication department
- Meet internal and external customer expectations for on time delivery
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Degree or a Diploma in a related field from an accredited college considered an asset
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a planning role in a manufacturing environment
- Go-Gen or other lean manufacturing training considered an asset
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Understanding of MRP/ERP software
- Demonstrated working knowledge of principles of lean methodology for process improvement
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel and Google Docs
