Overall Accountability
The Production Manager oversees the day-to-day operations - overseeing an end to end raw pet food manufacturing focused on quality, safety and motivating a team. The Production Manager spends most time leading and managing a team, being a trusted and collaborative cross-functional partner, and implementing operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and managing the Production team including development and succession planning.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional departments to ensure overall Operational and Production KPIs are met.
- Oversee the production planning, staffing, and day-to-day manufacturing operations in a safe and cost-effective manner, accurately tracking and recording KPI’s.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to prevent operational delays.
- Monitor reporting of daily production, tracking lots, inventory, etc. in the company’s. ERP system (Accumatica) for accuracy, and to enhance departmental reporting procedures.
- Verify and review HACCP records to ensure consistent completion and compliance, as well as identifying any trends and offering solutions/improvements.
- Providing constructive coaching and facilitate training and development of team members, specifically two Production Supervisors.
- Follow and enforce all health and safety protocols as identified by the company and department, fostering a safe and positive work environment.
- Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety protocols related to manufacturing activities.
- Educational background in Operations Management, or a related field
- 7+ years of work experience in a production or operations management position
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment with HACCP certification or higher would be a huge asset
- 3+ years experience leading team(s) while navigating fast-paced growth
- 3+ years project management experience (an asset)
- Strong track record of success supporting implementation/adoption of new programs, processes, policies, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of change management strategies and best practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated experience using an ERP system
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Supportive leader with the ability to motivate others
- Adaptable and resourceful
- Confident making critical decisions in time-sensitive situations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Problem solver with a solution-focused approach
