Production and Operations Manager

Solus is a well-established manufacturer of concrete décor for the home, specializing in firepits, water features, wall tiles and fireplace surrounds. Our manufacturing facility is located in New Westminster, B.C. and our products can be found in 35 countries around the world primarily in North America and the UK.

We are currently looking for a Production Manager to join our team. This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of our production operations to continue producing the highest quality products in the most effective and efficient manner, while managing production schedules and maintaining exceptional standards for safety, regulatory compliance, environment, quality, customer service and cost.

Responsibilities:

General

· Responsible for managing the production of a variety of high-quality concrete products, focusing on efficiency and according to the production schedule

· Plan and schedule production activities, incorporating the various inputs including labour, equipment and raw material requirements, and regularly re-prioritize the schedule to accommodate order exceptions

· Responsible for lead time management to maximize order processing and production without overloading each team

· Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve the manufacturing process to reduce material cost and improve labour efficiency while maintaining product quality

Supply Chain Management

· Build and maintain positive relationships with existing suppliers

· Strategically source and purchase, both locally and internationally, to ensure maximum availability of materials to maintain lower costs while maintaining product quality

· Manage contract negotiations and all relevant terms, including pricing, quality and delivery schedule

· Establish the most efficient means of distribution channel and evaluate freight costs

Team Management

· Provide effective leadership and direction to the production team of eight and provide guidance on resolving any technical or personnel issues

· Responsible for production employee performance reviews, coordinating with the controller on any disciplinary issues

· Promote continuous learning environment to ensure workforce flexibility and skills enhancement

· Responsible for ensuring work safety and compliance with OHS regulations

· Participate in health and safety orientation, education and training and stay informed about safety requirements

Sales Support

· Collaborate with the Sales Team on new products and forecasted sales

· Analyze the business needs and current trends

· Lead implementation of Salesforce scheduling and inventory management system

· Provide technical support to customers and the production team

Administrative and Other

· Coordinate the maintenance of the office and warehouse building

· Maintain CE and CSA certification

· Quarterly inventory count

· Other projects as required

Required Skills and Qualifications:

· A university degree or technical college education is required

· A sound mechanical understanding and willingness to take on hands-on approach

· 3+ years of production supervisory experience within manufacturing environment

· Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations

· Knowledge of the CSA and CE requirements

· Proven experience using Salesforce or an equivalent CRM/ERP platform is required

· Appreciation and genuine interest in our product and eagerness to learn

· Must be able to work weekends, holidays and extra hours when needed
