Kootenay Savings Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Owner to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate and work closely with Solutions Specialists, the development team, infrastructure team, business analysts, and business unit representatives to create and maintain a prioritized product backlog and ensure our internal solutions meet operational needs, enhance efficiency, and align with strategic objectives.

As the Product Owner, you will be at the heart of transforming how we deliver value, removing delivery blockers, translating real-time customer feedback into actionable insights, and relentlessly identifying opportunities to elevate both our product and delivery processes. Your leadership will be a catalyst for innovation and continuous improvement, shaping not just what we build, but how we build it. By championing Agile principles like transparency, collaboration, and engagement, you will help cultivate a high-trust, high-performance environment that empowers cross-functional teams and accelerates our organizational growth.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manages Product Lifecycle: Oversee the product lifecycle from concept to delivery, ensuring products align with strategic objectives and user needs.
  • Product Ownership and Execution: You’ll own the product from strategy to delivery, including hands-on configuration and continuous improvement. This role combines big-picture thinking with day-to-day execution to ensure the product delivers real value.
  • Facilitates Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with development, infrastructure, business analysis, and business unit teams to ensure seamless coordination throughout the product development process.
  • Backlog Management: Maintain and prioritize the product backlog to ensure alignment with business goals and user requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to communicate product progress, challenges, and risks effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve product delivery processes, maximizing value for users and the organization.
  • Vendor Management: Prepare bid (RFI, RFP, RFQ) documents as needed, coordinate with 3rd party suppliers, and participate in the evaluation process to ensure business and technical requirements and priorities are met.
  • Regular Reporting: Prepare and submit regular product status reports to the Chief Operating Officer, Steering Committees, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Business Analyst Certificate Program (BACP) or IIBA Certification (completed or in progress) is an asset.
  • 5–8 years of experience in the financial industry with an understanding of banking processes and fiduciary controls, or a combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in technology solutions with increasing responsibilities in business analysis and project management.
  • Proficiency in business analysis principles, tools, and methodologies, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical users and collaborate with teams of varying expertise.
  • Experience managing project teams and working knowledge of project life cycles and processes.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics, SQL, and other Microsoft applications; experience with Microsoft Azure is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle and database query tools.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to engage staff across all organizational levels.
