Position: Post-Secondary Navigator
Reporting to: Director of Education

Job Summary:
The Post-Secondary Navigator plays a pivotal role in facilitating seamless transitions for Eskasoni students from high school to post-secondary education. This position involves collaborating with students, families, educators, and post-secondary institutions to provide guidance, support, and resources necessary for students' successful transition and attainment of their academic and career goals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement programs to prepare students for post-secondary education, including workshops, information sessions, and individualized counseling sessions.
- Provide comprehensive guidance and support to students in navigating the post-secondary admissions process, including researching institutions, completing applications, and securing financial aid.
- Receive and process funding applications to determine funding eligibility.
- Collaborate with high school staff to identify students' academic strengths, interests, and career aspirations to tailor post-secondary planning.
- Assist students in understanding admission requirements, deadlines, and financial aid options for various post-secondary institutions, including colleges, universities, vocational schools, and apprenticeship programs.
- Monitor students' progress towards post-secondary goals and provide ongoing support and guidance to address challenges and barriers.
- Foster relationships with post-secondary institutions, employers, and community and partner organizations to create opportunities for students' academic and career advancement.
- Ensure education institutions inquiries regarding sponsorship are responded to in a timely manner.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counselling, social work, or related field required;
- 1 - 2 years experience in working with students in post secondary institutions;
- Fluency in Mi’kmaq language;
- Knowledge of Mi’kmaq culture, history and community dynamics;
- Strong time management and organizational skills;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to post secondary institutions;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace applications. (docs, drive, sheets, classroom)
Salary Range: $64, 363 to $76,853
