OVERVIEW
The Pharmacy Systems Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and directly supporting all medication systems technologies including but not limited to the automated dispensing units (ADUs), automated-packagers, barcoding software, software interfaces, compounding equipment and future technologies etc. for the Pharmacy Department. This will involve overall responsibility for the provision of administrative and operational tasks, project management and implementation, and maintenance of pharmacy systems. This support will include training (internal/external), maintain software systems and keep them up to date (including testing/validation) in collaboration with IT/Informatics, maintaining system formularies and user databases, troubleshoot technological issues that impact pharmacy operations in collaboration with vendors, IT as needed (including supporting downtime activities, data reconciliation, possible oncall as assigned), participate in quality improvement and quality assurance (i.e. incident investigation, competency assessment/feedback), workload measurement, maintaining knowledge of best practices and applicable standards/regulations, and to be a primary point of communication for pharmacy and external stakeholders for relevant pharmacy technologies.
This position will report to the Manager, Pharmacy Operations and work closely with pharmacy leadership (supervisor, manager, director) to support the organization in maintaining pharmacy systems. The coordinator will also work closely with other leadership teams and departments within the hospital including CRLs, unit managers, unit supervisors, and project managers.
EDUCATION
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a Health Science or College Diploma from a recognized CCAPP
- Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Technician Education Program or equivalent
- Active licensure and registration in good standing with the Ontario Collect of Pharmacists an asset
- PMP certification or equivalent experience an asset
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2-5 years related hospital, nursing or pharmacy clinical or operational experience preferred or equivalent relevant experience
- Knowledge of automated medication systems.
- The ability to inspire staff to get excited to learn and maintain engagement through a well-planned and expertly delivered training and orientation program
- Proactive with a proven ability to achieve results and advance work plans
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with the patient care process from a holistic systems perspective, complemented by a strong interest in transformative initiatives
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Proven attendance record

- Have additional education and/or experience in adult learning, change management and training development/delivery
- Have strong computer/technology skills with extensive experience working a variety of equipment and applications (eg. MS Office applications, MS Teams etc)
