Canada Life currently has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Consultant.
Prescription drug and disability benefits are a major component to any employee benefit program.
The Pharmacy Consultant will provide pharmacy expertise that will allow Canada Life to develop the industry leading products and create solutions to assist our customers and deliver superior case management.
Under the guidance of the Leader, Pharmacy Support Services, the successful candidate will join a team dedicated to prescription drug management, disability claim optimization and client support.
Accountabilities
As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, assist in balancing the health needs of plan members with the cost management needs of plan sponsors, while contributing to the long-term sustainability of drug plans
Provide consultative support for management of drug and disability claims.
Develop and maintain Prior Authorization criteria and protocols in collaboration with the Drug Strategy and Drug Claims Management teams
Partner with pharmacists, nurses, and medical consultants to provide clinical opinions.
Provide customized support and recommendations to large plan sponsors and custom formularies
Liaise with pharmaceutical manufacturers
Using expert drug knowledge, conduct research and analysis on various drug and disability policies and strategies
Assist in the development and maintenance of reference material related to drug and disability policy
Maintain professional competence and expertise in the pharmacy profession through the on-going review of current pharmacy and medical literature, professional continuing education as well as through contact with professional peers
Qualifications and Competencies
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and licensed to practice in a province of Canada
Minimum 3-5 years directly related experience
Bilingualism in French and English is a strong asset
Demonstrated clinical judgment
Strong critical thinking skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Effective decision-making and documentation skills
Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a variety of roles to build collaborative partnerships across function and the business
Effective planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure
Creative problem-solving skills and strong customer orientation
Drives results and contributes to change processes that improve organizational performance and creates a culture of accountability
Ability to travel
- Bilingual (English & French) will be considered an important asset
The base salary for this position is between $76,400 - $141,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
