PERSONAL ASSISTANT
Seeking a reliable, creative, engaging, and community minded person to provide support to an outgoing young woman who is striving to live a fulfilling and purpose driven life in Oakville. The position requires “bridging to the community” – identifying opportunities for greater community participation, role development and fostering increased connection for the person. The Personal Assistant will support the person to explore her interests (and opportunities) in the community which include music, dance, skiing and socializing with friends. She is also an artist, yoga instructor/enthusiast and animal lover.
We anticipate that this role will evolve over time and may include multiple support positions. Currently looking to engage a Personal Assistant 3-5 hrs per day a few times a week. Having access to a reliable mode of transportation is preferred. There is some flexibility as to the day and time.
Description of Role
The role of the Personal Assistant would be to assist the person in living in her own home and community by providing support to:
- learn the “how to” of living on her own (shopping, meals, laundry, cleaning, etc)
- assist her to obtain and hold volunteer positions and paid employment
- connect and build relationships and valued roles in the community
- increase her proficiency in technology
- strengthen her ability to use public transit
- encourage ‘life tasting’ – trying new experiences
Qualifications/Requirements
- shared similar interests
- experience/background in the creative arts, business and marketing is an asset
- ability to coach, advocate and promote the voice of the person
- energetic, motivated, is fully present and a positive influence
- takes a ‘doing with’, not ‘doing for’ approach to support
- strong communication and problem-solving skills are required
- current and satisfactory criminal records check including a vulnerable sector search.
- valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred.
- openness to learning and working in a collaborative environment
- certification and training in CPR and First Aid are an asset.
- applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
Type: Fixed term contract
· Contract length- 10- 15 hrs/week with the potential to renew
· Rate of pay- $22-25 per hour depending on experience.
· Location- Trafalgar Road and Cornwall Road
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
