Job Summary

The Client Service Specialist is part of a skilled team that supports individuals and families in dealing with issues of food security, poverty, social isolation, and opportunity. This position works as a member of a team to create access to food and use a client centered approach to support individuals and various programs. The position will provide coverage for the daily operations of the Archway Food Bank and the programs it runs, including Food Distribution and Program Administration. In addition, the position will involve initial greeting of new clients and directing them to the Client Service Navigator. The Client Service Specialist is a versatile and flexible member of the team.

Your Role:

Archway’s Client Service Specialist with the Food Bank contributes by:

  • Providing coverage for Food Distribution and Administration, including greeting clients, desk operations for existing clients, and quality control.
  • Assisting with intake for food distribution programs and events collecting client information, opening client files, and entering client information into the client database.
  • Providing daily fresh food availability updates on the Client Menu Board for clients’ information.
  • Directing new clients to the Client Service Navigator.
  • Taking client orders relating to food preferences, ensuring the order is gathered accurately, and providing it to the in-person clients in a timely fashion.
  • Maintaining workspace cleanliness standards and safety while following Health and Safety protocols and ensuring Food Bank of Canada standards are upheld.

A proactive attitude is essential for monitoring stock levels and ensuring the timely preparation and delivery of food to clients. Our Offer

  • Wage: $22.00 per hour.
  • A permanent, part-time position at 20 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Getting an Interview–you will be considered if you have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a customer service position is preferred.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
  • Experience coordinating and directing volunteers is an asset.
  • Successful completion of Safe Food Handling course is an asset.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • Well-developed verbal, written, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Good organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and rapport with clients, volunteers, while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Good computer competency: ability to use Microsoft Office365, and virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and database systems.
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of safe working procedures.
  • Knowledge of the issues, barriers, and impacts encompassing food insecurity, homelessness, and housing.
  • This position may interact with people in challenging situations.
  • This position may include periods of constant motion including walking and lifting or carrying items up to 50lbs.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • This position requires both indoor and outdoor work.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
  • Successful completion of on-site training.
