Our programs involve both housing (capital project funding, property management and sourcing access to new or existing units for client use) and supportive services for individuals in or seeking access to housing programs. Position Summary
The Business Partner, People & Culture provides comprehensive HR support to employees and managers, ensuring smooth HR operations, compliance, and employee engagement. This role focuses on talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits administration, and policy implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring.
- Conduct onboarding sessions to ensure a positive and seamless experience for new employees.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain top talent.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop job descriptions.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and support.
- Assist with policy interpretation and ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures.
- Conduct workplace investigations and manage conflict resolution processes.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, staying updated on legal requirements.
- Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Maintain accurate employee records and manage HRIS data.
- Support payroll processing and benefits administration, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
- Assist in the performance review process, including goal setting, feedback, and evaluations.
- Develop and implement training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.
- Monitor HR metrics and analyze workforce trends to inform decision-making.
- Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Provide guidance on policy interpretation and implementation to managers and employees.
- Conduct regular reviews of HR policies to ensure they align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
- Lead HR projects and initiatives to support organizational goals and objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a business-related field.
- 5 years of experience, preferably in a Business Partner role.
- Proven strong foundation and knowledge of principles & practice of P&C including employment law & compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with or exposure to sub-populations that are particularly marginalized even in the homeless community, including but not limited to: Indigenous people; youth, substance users, people with compromised mental wellness, large families, immigrant and newcomer households, older adults, and persons with disabilities.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Experience with P&C systems such as Dayforce, Office 365, Deputy, XRef, or Traits is considered an asset.
- Must pass criminal record check including vulnerable sector clearance.
- This is a full-time, non-remote position that requires an in-person presence in our Edmonton, Alberta office.
