Position Title: Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Total Rewards Manager, with responsibilities to the Director Human Resources. Duties include but are not limited to full cycle payroll processing and benefits administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full cycle payroll processing.
- Provide backup and vacation coverage for Total Rewards Manager.
- Submit and process background checks through our provider.
- Administrative onboarding of new employees, and maintain employee records.
- Enter and review of payroll and benefit entries in Dayforce.
- Maintenance of Dayforce system.
- Provide guidance and training for Dayforce users and approvers.
- Biweekly review of employee timesheets, checking for discrepancies, following company, union and/or provincial regulations.
- Assist employees and managers with pay and benefit related questions.
- Support administration of the group benefit plan (enrolments, terminations, disability, etc.)
- Quarterly benefit reconciliation.
- Monthly reconciliation and billing for benefits, union remittances for dues and pension.
- Oversee employee share ownership plan.
- Provide third parties with any required information requested in relations to WCB or injury claims.
- Annual, Quarterly and Year End reporting and remittances for WorkSafe BC, WCB Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Develop and communicate reports and information pertaining to HR and Payroll as required.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Payroll Certification (PCP) required, proof of successful completion will be required prior to interview.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a payroll and benefits related position, playing an active part in completing full cycle payroll (minimum 500 employees).
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written skills required.
- Experience with Union payroll preferred.
- 2 years’ experience using Dayforce HCM would be considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
