Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Dishwasher to join our team at a small, fast-paced diner. This role plays a vital part in keeping our kitchen running smoothly and maintaining a clean, sanitary environment for food preparation and service. The Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen areas, as well as supporting the kitchen staff with various cleaning and prep duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using both manual and industrial dishwashing methods
- Ensure all kitchen tools and equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing and kitchen areas
- Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and ensure proper disposal of kitchen waste
- Assist with basic food prep or restocking when required by kitchen staff
- Clean kitchen floors, mats, drains, and surfaces at the end of shifts or throughout the day
- Monitor and refill cleaning supplies, soap dispensers, and paper towels as needed
- Follow all health, hygiene, and safety guidelines consistently
Qualifications:
- No prior experience required, but previous work in a kitchen or food service environment is an asset
- Strong work ethic and ability to stay focused in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Willingness to take direction and adapt to changing kitchen needs
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 40 lbs
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a clean work environment
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced, small kitchen environment with exposure to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemicals
- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability are mandatory
