Paint Prep & Yard Hand
Titan Boats, a leading manufacturer of rigid hull inflatable boats located in Sidney, BC, is looking to enhance our team of skilled trades. We are known for our tough, durable, and quality-engineered boats which are used for patrol, enforcement, and interdiction.
Our Paint Prep & Yard Hand prepares, paints, and assists with a wide variety of vessels and other products. They complete jobs on budget, on time, and per Titan’s reputation for performance and exceptional quality. There is an opportunity to apprentice under a journeyman painter for the right candidate.
Qualifications
- Paint prep experience, preferably in the marine industry
- Experience working in a physically demanding environment; confined spaces, working at heights, and use of safety equipment
- Ability to apply coatings using brushes, rollers, and/or spray applicators while maintaining desired MIL thickness
- Ability to use power tools, hand tools and chemicals for cleaning surfaces prior to coating
- Knowledge of various types and uses of paints and preparation procedures
- Knowledge of WHMIS and MSDS
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
Key Duties
- Cleaning and prepping surfaces; including sanding and buffing
- Checking over hulls for scratches and/or defects
- Masking and taping areas not requiring painting
- Assisting in applying a wide variety of marine coating applications (paint, textured coatings, and clear coats) to parts, equipment and interior/exterior of vessels
- Other duties as required
Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, full time. Compensation is negotiable depending on qualifications.
