U Vision Group is seeking a part-time (any days of Monday- Saturday) or full-time (Monday - Saturday) Optometrist to join our multidisciplinary eye care team in Brampton/Vaughan/ Etobicoke / Scarborough.
The successful candidate, Optometrist, will join a dynamic team of Ophthalmologists and Optometrists for pre-operative and post-operative care of cataract patients and other medical conditions. This is a great opportunity for a new grad or established Optometrist looking to work alongside Ophthalmologist colleagues in a collaborative environment to support continued professional growth. We welcome optometrists with subspecialty interests welcome (ie myopia control, scleral contact lens, dry eye, and low vision)
Uptown Eye Specialists is home to several subspecialized programs and providers that allow us to treat the full spectrum of ocular disorders. These include Cataract, Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Medical and Surgical Retina, Glaucoma, Pediatric and Strabismus, Cornea and Anterior Segment, Oculoplastic, and Refractive Laser Vision Correction.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess patients' vision and overall eye health
- Diagnose and treat various eye diseases, disorders, and injuries, including glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids as needed to correct vision problems
- Prescribe medication for certain eye conditions
- Offer advice and counseling on proper eye care techniques and practices
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries such as laser vision correction
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in a timely manner
- Ensure accuracy of individual patient diagnostic and procedure codes on clinical billing.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with the Optical retail team
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay up to date with the latest advances in the field of optometry
Requirements:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution
- Registered Optometrist licensed by the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Willingness to participate in continuing education and professional development activities
- Alignment with company values
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in a clinical or private practice setting
- Knowledge of electronic health record systems e.g. OSCAR
- Experience with pediatric eye care
- Experience with contact lens fittings
- Experience with co-management of refractive and cataract surgery
