We are seeking a Full Time dedicated and detail oriented Optometric assistant with Optical dispensing experience to join our team in the Southeast of Calgary. You will be a part of a dynamic eyecare team that supports our optometrists in providing organized and exceptional patient care in a timely manner which includes but not limited to patient intake, pretesting, insurance direct billing and contact lens training. Applicants will be required to be knowledgeable in educating patients on frame and lens options for various styles of prescription eyewear as well as adjustments, repairs and troubleshooting problems. The Ideal candidate should be able to handle day to day operations in the office and must be a team player, effective at communicating with others and multitasking in a timely manner.
Job details and responsibilities
**All applicants must be able to assist in Optical frame and Ophthalmic lens selections of various types, as well as dispensing and adjustment/repairs. The primary role will be assisting the Optician and Assistant Manager in these duties as well as the following:
· Patient Care / Pretesting of patients on autorefraction, tonometry, visual field testing, retina camera photography/OCT (Optos), lensometry, depth perception and color vision
· Medical Chart management / Handling and coordinating Referrals
· Scheduling and managing appointments
· Greeting and welcoming patients
· Troubleshooting patient concerns
· Working with the team to ensure all patients receive exceptional service
· Understanding and triaging emergency eye care.
· Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
· Managing contact lens patients and inspection of contact lenses on arrival
· Selling contact lenses and frame accessories
· Processing insurance claims
· Punctual and able to multitask in a busy environment
Experience
Will prioritize applicants with at least 1-2 years experience in optometry, ophthalmology and or optical. We are willing to train the right candidate who has strong customer services skills, very detail oriented, and willing to learn a new career
