WCH is currently looking to hire for Regular Full-Time, Clinical Practice Leader with the Ontario Network of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centers reporting to the Provincial Director.
Summary of Duties, but not limited to:Clinical Practice:
- Works with the Provincial Director and other provincial Forensic Nurse Educators to develop and implement standards of care across northern community Emergency Departments and Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centres.
- Works collaboratively with SA/DVTC leadership events to identify professional practice issues.
- Collaborates with nursing staff and other members of the health care team to develop and implement a comprehensive, programmatic approach to patient/family centered care using evidence based practice.
- Analyses and interprets current knowledge applicable to nursing practice and shares with other health team members.
- Enhances professional practice by facilitating staff involvement in ongoing learning opportunities
- Participates in quality assurance and improvement activities related to patient care outcomes and professional practice.
- Identifies patterns and trends in care and develops alternative approaches.
- Provides clinical consultation where specialized expertise is required.
- Incorporates College of Nurses of Ontario standards into professional practice.
- Assists to clarify problems and develop options for managing patient care.
- Provides leadership in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures related to patient care and flow.
- Acts as a Mentor or resource to peers and colleagues.
Provides education to health professionals and other professionals (i.e. police, Crown Attorneys, community partners)
- Assessment, Planning, Implementation & Evaluation of Developmental Initiatives
- Conducts formal and informal assessments to determine learning and developmental needs e.g. surveys, focus groups, 1:1 discussions
- Analyses assessments to determine the most appropriate implementation plan
- Develops and/or modifies teaching resources and materials to meet developmental needs e.g. self-directed learning packages, in-services, workshops, learning programs, skills labs, patient/family education materials, orientation programs
- Integrates knowledge of learning principles, organizational development, behavioural and physical sciences, clinical skills, communication principles and change management to design and implement learning initiatives
- Employs evaluation strategies for continuous improvement of developmental interventions e.g. questionnaires, focus groups, verbal feedback, audits, formal evaluations
- Contributes to the professional development of staff, and the professional community through direct supervision, presentations and publications.
- Contributes to the development of the nursing profession through active professional involvement and affiliation with other nursing service organizations, post-secondary educational institutions, professional associations and with the community at large.
- Promotes own professional development through continuing education.
- Collaborates with the Provincial Director in the implementation and monitoring of the Network Strategic plan.
- Contributes to nursing knowledge by identifying research problems in the field of specialization, participating in studies and supporting the implementation of findings into practice.
- Evaluates the impact of various programs and interventions on patient care and nursing practice.
- Participates in research projects as appropriate

Qualifications/Skills:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required, Masters Degree preferred
- Must Live and work in identified catchment area
- Able to travel, as required
- Competence in Indigenous Cultural Safety
- Currently in good standing and registered with current Certificate of Competence in Ontario required
- Minimum of 5 year’s clinical experience in sexual assault/domestic violence care
- Proven abilities in education consultation, supervision and leadership
- Proven ability to function in a multidisciplinary setting
- Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
