Network Computer Analyst
The job functions as a member of the School Support Services Unit and assists in the implementation and utilization of current and emerging technologies to meet or exceed the desired outcomes as mandated by Alberta Education and the Division.
The overall goal is to enable staff and students to use technology in the delivery of the curriculum. The key responsibilities include planning, acquiring, installing, configuring, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and accounting for all computers/networks/software and peripheral devices in the school that are used for instructional purposes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support to computers on the network, ensuring a high level of functionality and reliability for both staff and students.
- Perform first-level technical diagnosis and problem resolution related to Division applications using a combination of personally accumulated knowledge, education, experience and previously identified resolutions.
- Deploy laptop and desktop images and software through imaging deployment software in accordance with consistent Division desktop standards.
- Open trouble tickets with external vendors to resolve warranty/out-of-warranty hardware problems and track to completion.
- Consult with administrators and teachers on technical issues in a concise and understandable manner.
- Improve processes, products and services by identifying opportunities where information technology may assist in the resolution.
- Log and document all service request solutions to enhance communications and to extend the knowledge of the technical team.
Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing professional development activities.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience
Degree or diploma in an area related to computer sciences, plus three years of directly related experience, including troubleshooting networked workstations
- In-depth knowledge of PC hardware configuration
- Working knowledge of Windows MCP, A+ Certification, or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol
- Knowledge of routing and switching concepts and configuration; different hardware platforms
- Knowledge of different operating systems and their integration issues; a large variety of software productivity applications
- Knowledge of the educational environment and its unique technical requirements
- Firm knowledge of the Information Technology industry
- Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Understanding of the Division and department operations, programs and business
