Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced MRO/Tooling Purchaser to join our materials management team. This position plays a critical role in supporting production and maintenance operations by sourcing, purchasing, and maintaining tooling and plant supplies. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of purchasing experience, a background in manufacturing, and excellent follow-up and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and process purchase requisitions for tooling, maintenance supplies, and general plant needs
- Manage and maintain vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs for tooling and plant materials
- Purchase materials and supplies in a timely, cost-effective manner to support ongoing operations
- Follow up on all purchase orders and delivery timelines to ensure on-time fulfillment
- Communicate with internal departments and suppliers to resolve delivery or order discrepancies
- Identify and develop new suppliers to improve sourcing options, pricing, and reliability
- Support the engineering and management teams with special procurement projects
- Maintain purchasing documentation in compliance with company standards
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
- Participate in shop floor and health & safety training as required
- Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the JGW Code of Business Conduct and Confidentiality Policy
- Provide occasional reception/switchboard relief as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Materials Manager
Skill Factors:
- Minimum 2+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization and follow-up abilities
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SysPro) is an asset
- Analytical thinker with the ability to problem-solve independently
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and supply chain best practices
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

- Requires strong time management skills to meet tight timelines and production demands
- Regular communication with suppliers and internal teams regarding order and delivery status

Qualifications:
- Minimum 2+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with tooling, MRO items, or plant maintenance supplies preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Post-secondary education in supply chain, purchasing, logistics, or business administration is an asset
- Knowledge of vendor-managed inventory (VMI) systems is an asset
- Familiarity with health and safety standards and workplace compliance
- Experience developing supplier relationships is strongly preferred
Shift Details:
This is a full-time day shift position. Hours and schedule will be discussed during the interview.
Location:
This position is located in Princeton, Ontario, just 25 minutes from Kitchener/Cambridge and 10 minutes from Brantford.
