We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Mortgage Underwriting Process Consultant to join our Underwriting Strategy & Operations team. In this role, you will lead the design, optimization, and enablement of business processes that enhance operational efficiency, elevate user experience, and support strategic initiatives across the underwriting organization. You’ll act as a strategic partner and subject matter expert, driving cross-functional collaboration, continuous improvement, and scalable solutions that align with business goals.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop or assist with the development of strategy for assigned initiatives and opportunities in collaboration with key stakeholders.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert on key initiatives and projects, providing strategic guidance, operational insight, and cross-functional support to ensure successful execution and alignment with business objectives.
Serve as an Art of the Deal consultant, supporting deal structuring and execution strategies.
Collaborate with the Workforce Manager to proactively identify and address talent gaps, leveraging tools like the cross-training matrix.
Lead or support the development of training materials to ensure effective knowledge transfer and adoption.
Facilitate quarterly procedure governance to ensure process consistency and compliance.
Provide backup support on audit activities, ensuring readiness and compliance.
Support squads with user testing, ensuring new processes and tools meet business needs.
Lead process discovery, mapping, and analysis initiatives to identify opportunities for improvement and automation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, sustainable process solutions.
Develop and maintain process documentation, playbooks, and training materials to support adoption and compliance.
Act as a change agent to promote the process of excellence and continuous improvement of culture.
Monitor process performance metrics and provide insights to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; Lean Six Sigma certification; Certified ScrumMaster is a plus.
Brings extensive practical experience in underwriting, with deep expertise in underwriting principles, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
2+ years of experience in process improvement, business operations, or enablement roles.
Strong understanding of process design methodologies (e.g., BPMN, Lean, Six Sigma).
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without authority.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Familiarity with delivery and digital transformation practices is considered an asset.
Experience with process mapping tools (e.g., Visio) and project management platforms (e.g., Jira, Asana).
Demonstrated success in navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in a complex environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in designing scalable, user-centric processes that support strategic goals.
Familiarity with underwriting policies, system and operational platform.
Strong understanding of change management principles and organizational readiness.
Ability to translate strategic vision into actionable plans and measurement outcomes.

Salary range is expected to be between
