Reporting to the Director of Underwriting, you will play a key role in evaluating mortgage applications, managing risk, and building lasting broker relationships to help us achieve our growth and portfolio quality goals.
What You’ll Bring
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years’ experience in mortgage underwriting or lending.
- Completion of the Mortgage Agent Course (asset).
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
What You’ll Do
- Review and verify mortgage applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
- Use strong judgment to support or approve applications while detecting and reporting any misrepresentation.
- Review supporting documentation to satisfy financing conditions.
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships through ongoing communication, training, and guidance.
- Provide clear, accurate, and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Meet turnaround times and contribute to volume, efficiency, and quality targets.
- Escalate unusual financial and non-financial transactions as required.
