Edison Properties is seeking to hire a full-time, permanent Mobile Patrol Security Guard. As a Mobile Patrol Security Guard, assigned to both residential and commercial buildings, the primary responsibility will be to protect multiple properties through vehicle-based patrols. Duties will include monitoring for suspicious activity, unauthorized access, and safety hazards, as well as responding to disturbances and addressing tenant concerns. The selected candidate will serve as a visible security presence to deter criminal behavior and foster a safe environment for residents, tenants, and visitors. This role requires strong situational awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to document incidents and patrols accurately.
Main Responsibilities:
Patrolling/Reporting:
- Conduct scheduled and random mobile patrols of assigned locations.
- Monitor for signs of unauthorized entry, property damage, or unusual activity.
- Lock or unlock premises, gates, or equipment as required.
- Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, completing incident reports.
- Document patrol activity using daily logs and digital reporting tools.
- Interact professionally with clients, employees, and members of the public.
- Perform site checks to ensure all security equipment is functioning properly.
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate parties.
- Follow company and client-specific procedures and protocols.
- Operate patrol vehicles safely, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and readiness.
Emergency Response:
- Respond to emergencies as they arise (break-ins, vandalism).
Customer Focus:
- Serve as the first point of contact for clients, tenants, employees, and the public in a professional and approachable manner.
- Provide courteous, respectful, and helpful service at all times.
- Actively listen to customer concerns and respond with empathy and urgency.
- Maintain a calm, composed demeanor during challenging or high-pressure situations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Represent the organization with integrity and professionalism at all times.
Job Requirements:
- Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent; successful completion of a certified Manitoba Security Guard Basic Training course.
- Valid Manitoba Security Guard License.
- Require 3 years of experience, preferably in an in-house security position.
- Clear Criminal Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Check required and to be maintained.
- Computer Word/Excel and CCTV experience an asset.
- Personal protective Equipment required: Safety boots, uniform provided.
- Available to work 8-10 hour shifts in the evenings/nights, Tuesday-Saturday.
- Must be in good physical condition, as there is foot patrolling.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Asset training to have: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Canadian First-Aid Training, MOAB , Mental Health: Awareness & Sensitive training.
