The Mill Labourer/Lubrication Technician is responsible for performing a variety of general labor tasks in a mill or industrial environment, with a focus on maintaining equipment through regular lubrication and basic mechanical upkeep. This Mill Laborer/Lube Technician role supports production efficiency by ensuring machinery is clean, well-maintained, and operating safely. Duties include greasing and oiling equipment, monitoring fluid levels, performing routine inspections, assisting with minor mechanical repairs, and maintaining cleanliness in and around the work area. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and capable of working in physically demanding conditions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Apply lubricants to machinery and equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedules.
- Perform routine fluid level checks and refill as needed (oil, grease, coolant, etc.).
- Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify leaks, wear, or maintenance needs.
- Assist with basic mechanical repairs, part replacements, and general maintenance tasks.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, including cleaning around machinery and removing debris.
- Operate tools and equipment as needed, complete daily logs and report issues promptly.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use, lockout/tagout, and hazard communication.
- Support other teams with general labor duties as required.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in an industrial or mill environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of lubrication and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions and safety guidelines.
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and standing for long periods.
