RF Microwave Technician

About the Role
As and RF/Microwave Technician you will be part of a production team responsible for the tuning and testing of RF amplifiers and sub-assemblies used in satellite communications systems. Assignments may include performing final product testing and tuning of RF circuits using RF sweepers, RF power meters, vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, waveguides and waveguide couplers, coaxial cables, environmental chambers, and vibration fixtures.
Responsibilities
- You will need at least three years of RF and/or electronics test and production experience, with demonstrated knowledge of microwave theory and practice.
- Familiarity with microwave test equipment and laboratory protocols for handling sensitive components.
- Must be able to read and interpret test instructions, assembly instructions, and engineering drawings (schematics, mechanical drawing).
- Experience and skills with basic hand tools, and machinery such as drill presses, grinders, CNC machines an asset.
- Knowledge of environmental test processes and equipment is beneficial.
- Effective communication skills are necessary in order to work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other employees.
- Assemble, test and troubleshoot prototype circuits, RF amplifiers and mechanical parts
- Perform tests and evaluations of electrical systems or prototypes
- Prepare test data for engineering review
- Troubleshoot and replace electrical circuitry
- Tuning of solid state power amplifiers
- Assist in the design and preparation of documentation
- Hands on experience running, connectorizing and grounding CATx / Coaxial cable in conduit / cable tray. Also familiar with Microwave radios including Nokia 9500 and Ericsson MTNL / Minilink along with RFS/Andrew
- Microwave antenna assembly and installation on poles.
- Testing and troubleshooting of cables and antennas, including DTF, Return Loss and PIM along with point to point antenna alignment.
- Knowledge of test equipment [Anritsu site master sweep gear, Kaelus PIM gear 850c and 1921c]
Qualifications
- 3 years experience with Microwave installation, troubleshooting and commissioning.
- A diploma or certificate in electronics
- 3-5 years’ previous experience with tuning solid state power amplifiers.
- Knowledge of Microwave and RF circuits is required
- Previous experience hand soldering surface mount components is required.
- Experience with troubleshooting and problem solving of Analog and Digital circuits is an asset
- A strong mechanical aptitude would also be beneficial
- Working knowledge of safety standards and regulations, basic knowledge of electrical safety
- Knowledge of Agilent VEE Pro is an asset

- Valid drivers license and clean abstract required.

Work Environment
- Regular hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Flexible to work both day and night shifts as required
- Job sites all over southern Ontario, mostly GTA.
- Based out of Vaughan warehouse.
- Heavy lifting, manual work and proficient use of installation tools
- All extra Covid PPEs provided, maintaining distance on job sites
