Merchandising Associate
PRIMARY FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE
Komoka Kilworth Home Hardware Building Centre (KKHHBC) is currently seeking a Merchandising Associate. The primary function of this role is to support our Merchandising effort to position our store in the most professional and presentable way with displays and aisles that greet customers with a full, upkept, and aesthetically pleasing experience. Our Merchandising team directly influences the success of our award-winning location, supporting the entire store and the ability for each of our departments to meet and exceed their goals, while creating a welcoming and memorable experience. You will support your colleagues throughout the store by collaborating to do seasonal changeover, new product displays, themed displays, transition of product, vendor displays, and overall merchandising. Being regularly on the sales floor, you will also support your team and the store through assisting retail customers with questions, where necessary, by directing them to product and helping to maintain store cleanliness.
Flexibility with scheduled workdays and shift preference is required.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent the Komoka Kilworth Home Hardware Building Centre in a presentable and professional way
- Merchandise aisles and displays in accordance with documentation, planograms, and direction provided by Leadership
- Assist retail customers with questions on where to locate product and where to find help within the respective department
- Support the store and Warehouse, when possible, with filling stock on the sales floor based on merchandising projects and our effort to keep aisles full and holes to a minimum
- Perform housekeeping duties throughout the department you’re working in and general area, where possible
- Identify and support the need to update and flush stock and merchandise within the vicinity of the department or area you’re working in, where possible
- Be approachable and treat all employees with respect
- Create a memorable and informative experience for the customer
- Be accessible to colleagues for questions and guidance where necessary
- Support and contribute to an environment that encourages high employee productivity and morale
- Maintain safety training certifications annually or as advised
- Set a good example by always following company policies and procedures
- Adhere to quality and customer service standards set forth by GHHBC
- Participate and represent store in local community events
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense.
- Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management
- Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by the Management team and General Manager.
EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED
- 1-2+ years of prior Retail Merchandising experience is a strong asset
- 1-2+ years of prior retail or industry related experience is beneficial
- Possess a high regard for safety in the workplace
- Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Ability to understand computer software programs which support the role
- Excellent communication skills
- A ‘can-do’ attitude with a desire and willingness to learn is an asset
- Willingness to continually develop professional skills and knowledge base with company support
- Willingness to participate in seminars, webinars, training sessions and meetings to expand knowledge and skillset
- Ability to work cooperatively in team atmosphere
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports directly to Merchandising Manager > General Manager > Owners
